PMM Correction Calculation
PART 2
The
Trimble Survey Controller software version 11.31 has an error in the
calculation of the PPM correction for some Total Stations. This Support
Note describes the problem and a workaround for affected customers.
Description:
In
Trimble Survey Controller version 11.31 there is a problem with the
calculated PPM value. The magnitude of the error varies with different
instruments (max ~9mm at 500m using a Zeiss Elta), but there is NO error
for the Trimble S6. Previous versions of Trimble Survey Controller
(11.22 and earlier) are not affected.
Work Around:
To avoid the problem do one of
the following:
- Enter a user calculated PPM value.
- Edit the temperature and pressure values after the station setup. To
do this:
1. After performing the station setup, open Menu->Review current job.
2. Find the Atmosphere record for the station setup and re-enter the
temperature (or pressure) and tap Accept. Even though the temperature
(or pressure) hasn’t changed, this forces a correct computation of the
PPM correction which is then stored and used within the Trimble Survey
Controller software.
- Import the data into Trimble Office software. The error only appears
within Survey Controller and not when exporting to office software.
