Tech Notes Tip
Want To Know What Satellites Are Doing Tomorrow?
- Go to www.trimble.com
- Click on Training/GPS Data Resources/Latest
   Ephemeris Data (In .safe format)
- Save to you Desktop
- Open Trimble Geomatics Office (Don't open a
  project)
- Then click on Utilities / Planning
- Once Planning window is open, go to
  Almanac / Import / .safe
- Browse to "Current" saved on your desktop and
  click "Open"
- Now the ephemeris is current and you are read to
  plan!
- Go to File / Station
- If you don't have a station already defined or you
  don't have Lat. & Long. for your site, click the
  "Map" tab, (Middle Right on the Window)
- Search the map for the closest city to your site
  (Within 100 miles or so), and double click it
- Now under "Station Name" you should see the
  cities name
- Adjust the "Elevation mask" to your preferences
- Enter the data and time period you will be working
- Make sure your "Time Zone" is correct & daylight
  savings time is or is not taken into consideration
- Apply and OK out to the main Planning Window
- Now under graphs you can pull up charts on
  "Number of Satellites," "DOPs," "Sky Plot," Etc.
- When you close planning it will prompt you to
  save your new almanac
- Name it as the date so you can easily know how
  old your almanac is

NOTE:  It is recommended to update your
           ephemeris every 30 days.
