Tech Notes Tip
Cold Weather is now upon us. This is the time that batteries, cables, and even equipment can fail you. Do not get stuck in the field with equipment and accessories that are not adequate to handle colder temperatures. Take a few minutes to inspect all of your GPS cables. Check the ends and clean them out if you see any corrosion or dirt. Use a “non-corrosive” contact cleaner that can be purchased at the local Radio Shack. Make sure to also check your battery connections as well. Batteries will become a source of problems in the winter. If your batteries are not holding a charge very long, a good idea is to mark them and keep them separate from batteries that do hold charge. That way you know which ones to replace because as it gets colder, those batteries will last shorter periods of time. Also, with construction season winding down, now is a good time to get your total station in for service. We offer cleaning and calibration services.
