Trimble Mapping / GIS Support Bulletin

Attention users of Trimble Mapping/GIS users in Minnesota. The Minnesota DOT has been working on a new RINEX storage file for the new Net R5 Base Station receivers that have been implemented in the metro area. These new receivers have the ability to store more observables including L2C, Glonass, and future Satellite signals. What this does is create a Rinex file that now has 10 observables. We found this out when a couple of customers tried to post process there data sets starting around June 11th and they would not process. The existing Trimble Pathfinder Office Software does not support the 10 observations that a Rinex file would store. MN DOT is currently in debate of which observable to turn off, so they do not have a negative effect on current post processing users of there Base Station network.  MN DOT has now gone back to storing the 9 observables until resolution can be made to support this new storage file. This was field test confirmed on July 2nd.

The MN DOT base stations affected by this are MN Road, Center City, Hollywood, Golden Valley, Arden Hills, Oakdale, Red Wing, Apple Valley, Le Center, Le Sueur.
