What is Digital Copying?

Digital copying refers to the image being copied in a form where it can be read by a computer. This image is read in or copied via a built-in or off-line scanner which can then be transferred from the scanner to the copiers computer. This allows the user to make changes such as enlarging or reducing the drawing, editing, clean-up, rotation, and then print out one or more copies of the single document scan.

What are the advantage of Digital?

Digital copying provides some obvious advantages over analog or diazo process copying. First, analog copying means that the image is in line mode and is transferred directly on to a copier drum. To produce multiple copies the original document must pass over a glass or plastic platen the same amount of times causing significant wear and tear on your original. In addition, analog does not allow any manipulation of the original image. Basically, what you see it what you get.

In comparison to diazo processes, digital provides a clean, odor-free copy which does not require a translucent original. Again, the original image can be cleaned up, enlarged or reduced, edited, rotated, or inverted to make the best final copy possible.
